Chicago/Kingsbury TIF

Designation: 2000    Expiration: 2024

The Chicago/Kingsbury TIF district was created to foster the redevelopment of the western portion of the Near North community with commercial and residential uses that provide a cohesive and distinct mixed-use identity. In addition to enabling the redevelopment of vacant lots with mixed-income residential projects, the TIF is designed to promote private investment in vacant warehouse properties and a corporate office tower previously occupied by the Montgomery Ward Co. The TIF is also designed to improve a portion of the eastern bank of the Chicago River with trails, open spaces and other pedestrian-friendly amenities that attract and support private investments.
