Lawrence/Broadway TIF

Encompassing 74 acres primarily along Lawrence Avenue, Broadway and Sheridan Road, the Lawrence/Broadway TIF was designated to promote the revitalization and construction of commercial, residential and mixed-use structures within the Uptown and Edgewater communities. Priorities include the redevelopment of vacant lots for mixed-income housing projects and retail uses, the preservation and rehabilitation of historic structures, and the promotion of the Broadway-Lawrence intersection as a center for entertainment and performing arts. Funds are targeted for land assembly efforts, projects that create off-street parking opportunities for residents and business patrons, utility and streetscape upgrades, public transit improvements and open space expansion projects. Additional goals include the establishment of job training and placement programs for area residents.
