Madison/Austin Corridor TIF

Designation: 1999    Expiration: 2035


The Madison/Austin TIF was designated to foster private investment along major West Garfield Park and Austin community streets. The district is intended to assist the assembly and preparation of sites for new development, to facilitate the rehabilitation of anchor retail uses, and to help preserve historic buildings. The 397-acre district is also designed to promote investment in established institutional facilities and promote transit-oriented development where possible. Infrastructure improvements and job training initiatives are also supported by the TIF. The TIF has or will utilize a minimum of $21 million in public dollars to attract a minimum of $16 million in private investment.
