Administrative Review for Tickets Issued to a Stolen Vehicle
If you received a parking, compliance, red light or speed camera violation from the City of Chicago, then that ticket may be eligible for dismissal by the Department of Finance, under the following conditions:
- A final determination of liability has been entered (i.e., a late penalty has been assessed on your ticket).
- The violation occurred at any time during which the vehicle was reported stolen to a law enforcement agency.
- The vehicle had not been recovered by the owner at the time of the violation.
If you meet all of conditions above, please contact the Department of Finance at 312-744-7275 to have your case reviewed. Be sure to provide the following information:
- Ticket number(s)
- License plate number
- Make/model of your vehicle
- Police report number issued by the Chicago Police Department
If the police report was issued by a different law enforcement agency, please include a copy of that report. This report must show the date, time, make, model, and plate number of the stolen vehicle. If your vehicle has been recovered, include documentation of the recovery date and time. You may also submit copies of any impoundment documents. If the vehicle has not been recovered, please provide a copy of the total loss letter from your vehicle insurance provider.
