Committee/Council: Safe Haven Local Consulting Committee
Required by US Department of Justice, meets approximately 4 times a year.
Committee/Council: Head Start Citywide Parent Policy Council (CPPC)
The CPPC serves as governing body of the City of Chicago’s Head Start and Early Head Start program as required by 45 CFR 1350.50. Responsibilities include but are not limited to approval of Head Start-related policies and procedures, program-planning and assessment, budgets, grants submissions, and hires. The CPPC meets quarterly.
Committee/Council: Domestic Violence Coordinated Response Council (DV CRC)
Convened to advise the Domestic Violence Division. Meets 6 times per year.
Committee/Council: The Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC)
The Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) promotes neighborhood participation by identifying needs and priorities for funding and advises the City on the citizen participation process and the City's annual program submission to HUD. Members of the CDAC are representative of the entire City. They are chosen from among Chicago residents, nominated by various communities and city-wide organizations. CDAC Board Members provide decision-makers with the advantage of their first-hand knowledge of community and program facts, experiences, perceptions and opinions.
The CDAC is involved in all stages of the HUD [CDBG/ESG/HOME] Program Process. This includes involvement in developing, representation as and the refining of the citizen participation process; Advising OBM on HUD related programs, planning implementation and the identification of local needs and priorities.
Committee/Council: The Chicago Committee on Urban Opportunity [CCUO]
The Chicago Committee on Urban Opportunity [CCUO] is the oversight and review Board associated with the Chicago Department of Family & Support Services’ Community Services Block Grant, Head Start Grant and Early Head Start Grant.
Since 1968, local community action agencies have been required to have tripartite governing boards to gain and retain designation as eligible entities and to receive CSBG, Head Start and Early Head Start funding. The required tripartite board should reflect and promote the unique anti-poverty leadership, action, and mobilization responsibilities assigned by law to community action agencies. The Board is responsible for assuring that agencies continue to assess and respond to the causes and conditions of poverty in their community, achieve anticipated family and community outcomes, and remain administratively and fiscally sound.
