Mayor Richard M. Daley today introduced an ordinance to provide authorization for an intergovernmental agreement that will provide Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds for the development of land and park space at the site of the planned Lee Pasteur School.

The ordinance requested by the Department of Zoning and Land Use Planning, will allow for the transfer of $2.8 million funds from the Cicero and 67th Street TIF. The allocation of funds will assist the Chicago Park District with the development project at Park 484.

Park 484 is a 10-acre site located at 4701 W. 67th in the Westlawn community.

The project is part of the Lee Pasteur School which is located within the grounds of Park 484.  The Lee Pasteur School project is part of the Modern Schools Across Chicago program.

The renovation and development is a joint effort between the Chicago Park District and the Public Building Commission.

The Chicago Park District proposes to remove an existing berm within the park property, which is currently located on park land.  Additional development at the Park 484 site will include relocating ball fields and relocating a former rail embankment.

This park project furthers the goal of the CitySpace Plan to expand park recreational opportunities in underserved Chicago communities. The CitySpace Plan was adopted in 1998.
