119th/Halsted TIF

Designation: 2002    Expiration: 2026

The 119th/Halsted TIF district was created to provide coordinated redevelopment of vacant land, obsolete buildings and aging public ways within a once-thriving portion of the West Pullman community and smaller parts of the Roseland and Morgan Park communities. Increment from the 183-acre district is intended to foster the recreation of a viable and diverse business district along Halsted Street, specifically at 115 and 119th streets, while promoting the development of affordable, rental and for-sale housing along portions of 119th and 120th Street. Related open space improvements that support the TIFs development objectives include the establishment of a multi-purpose path though the community on a former Penn Railroad right-of-way.
