How to Find Your Car

If your vehicle was towed due to outstanding tickets, call 312.744.PARK (7275). The hearing impaired can call 312.744.7277.

For twenty-four-hour inquiries, seven days per week, you can call 312.744.4444.

Payment

For your convenience, payment for towed vehicles can be made directly at the auto-pound that has your vehicle. Payment must be made by cash, credit/debit card, or a money order issued by the United States Postal Service. Other forms of payment, including personal checks, will not be accepted. Alternatively, you may remit payment at one of the Chicago Department of Finance Payment Center Locations.

Booted Vehicles

You may enter an online Payment Plan or call 312-744-7275 to speak to a payment plan specialist.  You are required to make your first payment in person, at Payment Center Locations or at the auto-pound your vehicle has been towed, and only cash and credit/debit cards will be accepted.

If your Booted vehicle has been towed, please locate your vehicle, and proceed to the auto-pound where your vehicle is located.

If your Booted vehicle has not been towed, you may remit payment at one of the Chicago Department of Finance Payment Center Locations.  You may also go to an afterhours and weekend location listed at the Payment Center Locations.

Please note, in addition to the applicable boot, tow, and storage fees, all parking, standing, and compliance tickets that have reached final determination status issued to any vehicle registered in your name will be due. Furthermore, any unpaid fees associated with previously immobilized vehicles registered in your name will also be due in addition to boot tamper fees, if applicable.

Pursuant to the Municipal Code of Chicago, boot, tow, and storage charges are as followed:

Boot Fees:

$100 for passenger vehicles.

$400 for truck tractors, semi-trailers, and trailers.

Towing:

$150 for vehicles under 8,000 pounds.

$250 for vehicles with a gross weight of 8,000 pounds or more.

Storage:

$25 per day for vehicles under 8,000 pounds.

$50 per day for vehicles with a gross weight of 8,000 pounds or more.

$1,000 maximum.

Consequences for Non-Payment

If your vehicle is towed to a City Auto Pound and no action is taken to retrieve it, the pound will take its own action. The pound will keep a vehicle on premises for 21 days before the vehicle is eligible for auction or destruction. If you need additional time to retrieve your vehicle, you may ask for a 15-day extension by calling 312.744-PARK. The registered owner is notified by mail of the impending action.

Note: The signing over or involuntary surrender of your vehicle to the City does not waive or decrease any outstanding debt you owe the City.
