CHICAGO – The City of Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) Commissioner Rosa Escareno is pleased to announce the return of the popular Chicago Food Truck Festival at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington Street. Following a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will feature a rotating selection of food trucks from around the city at Daley Plaza every Friday from July 30 through October 15, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. As Chicago continues to reopen, the Food Trucks Fest will be a great opportunity to support small businesses and welcome people back to the Loop.
“As people return to work and businesses reopening, Food Truck Fest is a great way to celebrate how far we have come in the fight against COVID-19 while supporting small businesses at the same time,” said BACP Commissioner Escareno. “Chicago is the culinary capital of the country, and we are thrilled to bring our amazing food trucks back to the Loop every Friday later this summer.”
This year marks the 6th year that BACP has sponsored and organized the Chicago Food Truck Festival. Previous years have featured local favorites such as Lawrence’s Fish and Shrimp, Harold’s Chicken and The Fat Shallot. This year’s lineup will feature a variety of food trucks that are sure to satisfy even the pickiest eater – the schedule will be released prior to the first festival on July 30, with six trucks featured each Friday.
Food Truck operators that are interested in participating in this year’s Food Truck Fest must submit their completed application by Friday, July 2. Applicants must be properly licensed by the City of Chicago as a mobile food vehicle – full application details and information on how to apply can be found at chifoodtruckfest.com.
