CHICAGO — Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Administrator of the Nonprofit Capacity Building Program. Through this RFP, the City will select one organization to serve as the administrator of the Nonprofit Capacity Building Program. This program is fully funded using $3.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is part of Mayor Johnson’s Road to Recovery Plan via the Small Business Support initiative.
"Chicago's nonprofits faced unprecedented challenges during the pandemic, all while experiencing a surge in demand without the necessary resources to meet that demand," said Mayor Brandon Johnson. "The Nonprofit Capacity Building Program is a strategic investment in the future of Chicago’s nonprofits, providing essential coaching and support to help them build resilience, expand their impact and sustain their vital work."
The selected organization is expected to design and implement a high-touch capacity building program for nonprofit organizations. The goal of the Nonprofit Capacity Building Program is to invest significant resources into nonprofits to prepare and position them to deepen their impact in their communities and sustain themselves as a part of their neighborhood and sector infrastructure.
"The Nonprofit Capacity Building Program will empower Chicago nonprofits to excel," said BACP Acting Commissioner Ivan Capifali. "By providing tailored assessments, expert coaching and valuable resources, we're helping nonprofits strengthen their operations, expand their reach and deepen their impact in the community. This program will enhance the capacity of participants and create a valuable knowledge base to the nonprofit sector."
