Lollapalooza This Weekend
Lollapalooza is here! As we get ready to enjoy all that Chicago's biggest festival has to offer, it is important to remember to take care of ourselves and each other.
Air quality is rated as unhealthy today and may vary by day over the weekend. People in higher risk groups, such as those with heart or lung conditions, older adults, and children, should reconsider going today or at least shorten their time spent outdoors while air quality remains unhealthy. All Lolla attendees should limit their strenuous activity outdoors today–try to take it easy and enjoy the festival without pushing yourself too hard.
Harm reduction practices minimize negative social and/or physical consequences. For festival season, this means being vigilant in crowds, staying hydrated, recognizing the signs of a heat stroke, carrying Narcan®, and testing drugs before use. Visit any Chicago Public Library branch to access free Narcan®, or visit bit.ly/FindNarcan for a citywide Narcan® map. To request free drug testing kits, email osu.cdph@cityofchicago.com, or visit chicago.gov/vendingmachines to find the location of a City of Chicago Public Health Vending Machine near you. Remember to request a PIN so you can access harm reduction and public health supplies at no cost.
Back to School Vaccine Events
Physical exams and vaccines are an important part of the back-to-school experience. CDPH is bringing COVID-19 vaccinations (free for Chicagoans who are unable to pay) and select pediatric vaccinations to 77 neighborhoods across the city this summer. Bilingual staff will be on-site to assist, and walk-ins are welcome. Pediatric vaccinations require an insurance card, and children must be 7 or older to be vaccinated. For more information, visit: Chicago.gov/covidvax.
