Environmental Rules and Regulations

Under Chapter Chapter 2-112 of the Chicago Municipal Code, CDPH is authorized to issue rules and regulations to administer and enforce ordinances within CDPH’s purview. Listed below are the Environmental Rules enforced by CDPH.



Reprocessable construction/demolition material facilities

On March 7, 2023, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced its new rules for Reprocessable Construction/Demolition Material Facilities (i.e., “rock crushing” facilities) designed to reduce dust and improve air quality in communities surrounding these facilities, implement continuous monitoring, and enhance CDPH oversight through greater reporting and record-keeping requirements.

Under Section 2-112-160 of the Chicago Municipal Code, CDPH is authorized to issue rules and regulations to interpret or implement ordinances within CDPH's purview. CDPH enforces the following Rules and Regulations in cooperation with other City departments, where applicable.
